CWSC is in immediate need of COACHES! Our soccer club is all volunteer, so the more community members we have involved, the better. We're always happy to meet new members. Contact [email protected] for additional information, or attend one of our open-to-the-public board meetings. We'd love to get to know you!
What do CWSC Coaches do?
The most important part of coaching for our club is a positive attitude and a willingness to give a little of your time to the kids of Coupeville
Our intrepid former president and longtime coach, Robert Wood, has literally scripted practice sessions. Being a coach requires NO previous experience and couldn't be made more simple. Plus, we're here to help! Every board member is ready to support volunteer coaches throughout the season, making sure it's a great time for all involved.
This is more than just showing up and winning matches. WA Youth Soccer is dedicated to working toward player AND character development, so bring your patience and good humor to every game. Lead by example so our kids see good sportsmanship in action! (Lots more info available by checking out WA Youth Soccer's Respect Campaign, linked here, in the icon below, and at the bottom of the page...)
What hoops must a volunteer coach jump through?
- Kid safety is a top concern for CWSC, as it is for any and all youth programs - that's why, beginning with the Fall 2019 Season, SafeSport Certification is required before being eligible for the required background check. Training is free and easy, and contains valuable information for providing a safe and positive environment to all our athletes. ALL volunteers will complete SafeSport certification before submitting their background check authorization. WA Youth Soccer conducts national background checks through the Affinity Sports website. It's a simple process for volunteers with step-by-step instructions available for creating an account, uploading completion certificates, and submitting your information for the background check. Cost is covered by the club. Easy! (WYS also requests volunteers receive training on Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest awareness - information about that can be found in your Affinity account.)
What resources are available to coaches?
- Training Modules! See below for age appropriate training sessions for coaches offered by Washington Youth Soccer! Follow the link to find 8 weeks’ worth of pre-planned training sessions for age groups U6, U8, U10 and U12. Each week includes four different activities designed specifically for that age-group offered in print and video format – coaches can see the training exercises in action with the videos and then print the diagrams out to bring to the field.
